Verifying allegations made by a whistle-plower
A London based Highstreet retailer was struggling with supply chain issues in North India. According to a whistle-blower, there were kickbacks being passed down by their North Indian vendors. The client requested OUR TEAM to investigate and ascertain the veracity of the complaint.
First, we mapped out all the vendors active in the North Indian region in the garment business. We compiled a detailed dossier of vendors, similar to those supplying to our client, as well as a few who already had a vendor relationship with our client. We contacted several of these vendors to understand, analyze and document their business development tactics. We zoomed in on identifying violations of the UKBA during interactions between the vendor and the client’s in-house team in India.
Based on our findings, we conducted a series of investigative interviews among members of the client’s India operations, to corroborate the vendors feedback on boarding processes and compliance related practices.
Our exhaustive investigative interviews revealed how the vendors had compromised the client’s compliance team thus verifying the whistle-blower’s complaint!
The client thus made an informed decision whilst removing unethical members of the team, and also put robust systems and processes in place to prevent such compliance breaches in the future.
