How our team’s in-the-field investigation uncovered critical information that turned a company’s valuation on its head.
SHOOTING THE MAFIA IN THE FOOT
Identifying and removing instigators who were disrupting the client’s workforce
A multi-national corporation has a factory manufacturing industrial components in Maharashtra, Western India. But they were struggling with dealing with the local mafia, who had infiltrated the workforce and were stirring up trouble regularly. They disrupted operations at the factory, threatened the staff with violence and forced the management to recruit their members onto the payroll, although they did no work. As a consequence, the company had challenges of production inefficiencies and a negative revenue impact.
When the client approached our team for a solution, we suggested a two-pronged approach: a detailed profiling exercise, followed by actively liaising with the local authorities to clamp down on the instigators.
First, we conducted an in-depth exercise to identify all the possible troublemakers. We did a deep dive using research tools in the public domain, discreet sources, and local intelligence to create granular profiles of each individual. This way, we could systematically identify each miscreant and his/her support system in the local political and social arena.
The next phase involved a concerted outreach effort, utilizing OUR TEAM’s extensive network of current and retired senior police and government officials, to get the local police to take action. We elevated our efforts by addressing the problem to the political leadership at the state level and sent a letter to the Prime Minister’s office.
Within two months, the issue was completely resolved, and all the miscreants had been rooted out.
The factory was able to function normally at desired production levels thus resulting in a significant revenue gain for the company.
